BirdLife Secretariat finances in 2008

Due to global economic circumstances 2008 was a challenging year for the Secretariat with total income slightly decreasing to £9,586,472 (2007 £9,740,685). There was however a surplus on unrestricted funds for the year of £203,721 (2007 deficit £20,481), this surplus however was mainly derived from exchange gains of £264,982 from the revaluation of bank accounts and consolidation of overseas operations.
